Quality policy

It is MSG's policy to conduct all operations at all times in a manner that demonstrates our continuing ability to produce and supply products which are in full conformance with our customers' quality and delivery requirements.

We will, further maintain the systems and procedures that are designed to prevent nonconformity and continually improve our abilities, as opposed to merely catching nonconformity.

MSG Steel Service Center is committed to providing the closest tolerances and the highest speed efficiencies with our new, state-of-the-art processing line for shot blasting and priming, cutting and beveling, and bending of heavy plate.

Quality control

Quality control is performed by a team of specialists for quality control and standardization (QCS), which is a department independent from the production and reporting to Head of Quality. The responsibilities of the QCS include:

  • strict adherence to established technological processes
  • control of manufacturing processes and approval of finished products in accordance with normative and technical documentation

Quality control can be divided in three parts:

  1. incoming raw materials check
  2. quality of the production processes
  3. finished goods quality control/approval

Incoming raw materials checking

All raw plates arriving to a warehouse are measured for dimensions, checked for quality certificates correspondence and 100% visually inspected. This is all done prior to the plate coming into production. The data on each plate is then entered to a computer system. The QCS also checks marking of plates and profiles, steel grade, heat number, availability of all certificates and other documentation. If deviation is revealed and can't be repaired, the replacement shall be ordered immediately.

Quality of the production processes

QCS's specialists control the quality of the manufacturing process at each stage of the processing, from the very beginning till the very end: flattening, preheating, shot blasting, priming, dimensional control, cutting, beveling, bending, etc. by registering all necessary information into journals assigned to each point of control throughout the entire production process.

Finished goods quality control/approval

Final inspection for dimensions, quality of the beveling and other parameters are performed in the finished goods area along with a representative of an inspecting organization (Bureau Veritas, SGS, etc.) approved by the customer.

Measuring equipment is regularly inspected and approved in full compliance with the requirements of the corresponding normative and technical documentation.

On the 15th of March 2010 MSG plant received the ISO 9001:2008 certificate for quality management systems in mechanical process of hot rolled plate and application of paint and lacquer coating.
